About
What about THSDrama
Troup High School Drama Department is an arts program at Troup High School that promotes learning and practicing the art of theatre with an emphasis on character. We are responsible for four productions each year. These productions usually include one competition piece, a children’s show or holiday show, one musical, and a student showcase.
The competition piece is presented in late October or early November. We compete in the GHSA AAA-One Act Competition each year. Any performer who is a Troup High student is allowed to audition for this piece.
Students who are involved in the Advanced Drama class perform a holiday show or a children’s show for the community in early December. Students who wish to join this class must audition the prior year.
Prior to the Christmas holiday, students will begin auditioning and rehearsing for the musical that opens in late February or early March. All students who enjoy singing, dancing, and acting are encouraged to audition.
Finally, the season ends with Student Showcase. Student Showcase allows students to assume control of the artistic process. The students become the directors, performers, designers, publicists, stage managers, etc. With an advisor on hand, student directors choose a play, hold auditions, cast, and produce a one act that will be presented to the community in a Black Box format in mid to late April. Students who participate in this project are Acting 1 students and the student body.
We hope you choose to be a part of our program as a performer and/or an audience member!
